Paph. schoseri originates from Bacan Island in the Moluccas of Indonesia, hence the invalid synonym "Paph. bacanum". It is one of those section Barbata Paphiopedilum species, like Paph. hennisianum and Paph fowliei, that is less flamboyant in appearance and as a result does not receive much attention from growers. This results in it being somewhat uncommon in cultivation, an undesirable fact considering its limited distribution in the wild. A view of the whole flower.
